In a draft report on the EU’s Strategy with Africa, Guido Milana (Olevano Romano, Italy) calls for the revitalization of EU-Africa relations, emphasizing the vital role that local and regional authorities (LRAs) play in fostering economic growth, sustainable development, and shared prosperity between the continents.
From Sarajevo to Brussels: How Sara Puts Bosnia and Herzegovina on the EU Map
The enlargement days took place at the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) on 29-30 April 2024 in Brussels, Belgium and featured several sessions with representatives of EU candidate countries. Our Young Elected Politician from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sara Arslanagić, intervened in the session on public administration reform and fiscal decentralization to provide expertise from her city, Sarajevo.
Tackling the urgent housing crisis will help the Single Market
Speaking on 4-5 March 2024 at the European Conference of Housing Ministers, CoR Rapporteur on housing, Andres Jaadla from Rakvere, Estonia proposed solutions to the European housing crisis. The Conference was part of the Belgian presidency of the Council of the European Union in Liège, Belgium.
Skills and mobility clusters could help Europeans boost their CVs
At a meeting of subnational leaders the Vice-President of the Hauts-de-France Region, Francois Decoster, proposed the creation of macro-regional skills & mobility clusters to boost vocational education and apprenticeships across the European Union, in order to help citizens acquire new skills and find new opportunities in the European labour market.

What is Renew Europe ?
Renew Europe in the European Committee of the Regions (CoR) – is a political group that represents liberal & democrat city mayors, regional presidents and ministers, and local and regional councillors in the process of developing EU policies and laws. The CoR is a political assembly that exists to improve and safeguard a key part of European democracy: the proper involvement in the EU policy process of all the forms of subnational government that can be found in Europe’s Member States.
