“Communicating Europe” at heart of EuropCom 2023, the largest public communication event

EuropCom, The largest annual meeting point for experts in the field of public communication, will focus on communicating Democracy, Communicating Europe, and includes speakers such as François Decoster, Renew Europe CoR President, discussing how to activate voters ahead of the 2024 European elections.

With the next European elections only one year away, this year’s EuroPCom is all about democracy. Under the slogan Communicating Democracy – Communicating Europe, communication experts from the local, regional, national and European level will share their best practices when it comes to successful communication strategies, and discuss how to get voters engaged. They will also look at how disinformation is affecting democracy, and how open data solutions can empower citizens, among many other topical issues!

Our President, François Decoster, will participate in “Activating voters ahead of the 2024 European elections”: how can we achieve active participation and how do we reach out to first time voters? What can communicators learn in view of the elections? Panellists will discuss strategies driving active participation in the democratic processes.

Gunars Ansins, Mayor of Liepaja, is panellist for the “Building resilience to election-related information manipulation”. This ideas lab focuses on detecting and responding to disinformation ahead of the European elections, and takes the form of a hands-on simulation exercice, where participants are asked to react to a disinformation attack.

EuroPCom, the European Public Communication Conference, is Europe’s largest annual gathering of experts in the field of public communication and is jointly organised by the EU institutions. The 14th EuroPCom conference takes place on 26 and 27 June 2023 in Brussels and online.
