Lucky winner Laura Neijenhuis reports on how Prague empowers citizens

To learn how mayors are empowering citizens, building inclusive societies, stimulating the economy and expanding citizens’ European horizons the ALDE Group in the European Committee of the Regions created the special “envoy” prize at the 2016 ALDE Party Congress in Warsaw. This yielded one random lucky winner to discover on the ground what is going on in a city of their choice while engaging in a dialogue with local citizens on their concerns and aspirations regarding Europe.

The winner, Laura Neijenhuis from the Netherlands, active member of D66 and Jonge Democraten, chose to visit Prague, the capital of the Czech Republic where our vice-President Adriana Krnáčová is mayor, to learn more about how city administration can improve the lives of its citizens and how Prague is specifically working towards becoming a smart city.
