will take place at the ALDE Party Congress on December 2, 2017, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
The 3rd Liberal Mayors Summit will take place at the ALDE Party Congress on December 2, 2017, in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. The focus of the 3rd summit will be the modernisation of democracy in our cities and preparations for Europe Day on May 9, 2018. Please find draft agenda of the meeting here.
As in previous years the ALDE Party Congress will attract well over 500 liberals from around Europe, including European Commissioners, Members of the European Parliament, Prime Ministers, and national ministers, and therefore presents a unique opportunity for city mayors to help influence the European agenda and contribute to building a liberal Europe.
Last year at the 2nd Liberal Mayors Summit in Warsaw the participating mayors from fourteen different European countries discussed and agreed a document setting out the principles which make cities and local communities liberal, and the actions that a Liberal Mayor should take. The participating mayors also discussed upwards social mobility and learned from each other’s experiences. To see a recap video of the summit please click here.
The purpose of the summit is to help liberal democrat mayors to share ideas and best practice from a liberal perspective. And of course, such a network will also play an important part in helping to strengthen the ALDE political family, and therefore helping to build a liberal Europe.
The working language of the meeting will be English.
