Objective

The liberalization of the European aviation market served us well – we have seen strong growth, jobs, trade and mobility but emerging economies outside of the EU and new actors like the ones from the Gulf states make competition fiercer on the European aviation market. We therefore need a more comprehensive European Aviation strategy because a competitive and viable European aviation sector is important for all regional development. Therefore, the members of the European Committee of the Regions are looking into connectivity, intermodality, climate and environmental concerns and cooperation between local and regional authorities through a report prepared Ulrika LANDERGREN (SE/ALDE).

Impact

23 March 2017 Improving the Regional Air Connectivity for Europe – a Precondition for Sustainable Economic Growth

The conference brought together leading representatives of key responsible institutions and organisations that, as part of their daily mission, can help the EU aviation increase competitiveness and create economic growth. Achieving this objective requires trustful stakeholder dialogue and clear and positive leadership at European, national and regional level. Ulrika Landergren was a key panelist at this event.
